Robert Burris

Drexel University Sacramento announced today that Robert Burris has been elected Chairman of its Board of Advisors.

Burris, a Senior Vice President of the Sacramento Area Commerce and Trade Organization, will lead the 24-member board, which advises Drexel on its programs and plans for the future. He was elected as chairman by his peers on the Board of Advisors.

"Bob Burris is a tremendous ambassador for the Sacramento region and we are thrilled to have him take on this leadership role as Board chairman," said Dr. Sandra Kirschenmann, Associate Vice Provost and Executive Director of Drexel University Sacramento. "We appreciate Bob and the entire Advisory Board's commitment to ensure that the education we provide here is not just top-ranked in the country, but closely calibrated to the practical business needs of this region."

"I'm honored that Drexel has given me the opportunity to serve as Chairman of its Board of Advisors and to continue working closely with an excellent group of leaders from the greater Sacramento region," Burris said. "I share in Drexel's passion for creating an environment of civic engagement for its students and the university as a whole."

Burris is trained as an urban economist and is experienced in applied economics, economic development, and real estate market analysis. His responsibilities include external marketing and company recruitment for the six-county Sacramento Region.

The Board of Advisors deepens Drexel's partnerships with the business community. Members advise the university as it plans for the future. The university has a group of 24 distinguished leaders of business and finance, government, education and the non-profit sectors on its Board.

Drexel University Sacramento currently offers students six master's, one doctorate and one post-baccalaureate program designed for working professionals in the fields of entrepreneurial business, human resource development, higher education and health care.

In September 2013, Drexel launches its first full-time undergraduate program in business for students who have finished at least the first two years of their undergraduate education.
