One of the advantages of being a national university is that we can attract leaders from both coasts to speak with our students. While sponsored by individual academic programs or colleges, dicussion topics are presented as "interdepartmental" -- intended to be of interest to students, faculty, alumni, and friends as informed citizens, regardless of specialty or career.
