Natasha Patterson

Natasha A. Patterson received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and Master of Public Health in Community Health Education from Temple University. Mrs. Patterson is currently pursuing a PhD in Education with a concentration in Leadership in Higher Education at Capella University.

Professionally, Mrs. Patterson (formerly Ms. Hinton) began her career as a case manager for Big Sisters of Philadelphia, now Girls Incorporated of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey. She provided education, advocacy and resources for adolescent girls at risk for delinquency. Following that experience she became a health educator for Resources for Children's Health, a subsidiary of Philadelphia Health Management Corporation, now the Public Health Management Corporation. Mrs. Patterson provided health education workshops and seminars to parents at schools, hospitals, child care centers, health centers, and recreational centers in South Philadelphia. She covered 47 different topics ranging from Asthma Maintenance to Stress Management. While in this position, Mrs. Patterson started the MPH program at Temple University. Upon graduation, she was promoted to the Program Coordinator. As the program coordinator, she managed all aspects of the health education, case management and after school programs.

To gain research experience, Mrs. Patterson accepted a position as a Project Manager for Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia, PA. While in the position she managed research projects related to health disparities, decision making and cancer prevention and treatment including an Breast Cancer Survivors, HPV, Cervical Cancer and Smoking Cessation in Pregnant Women studies. Later Mrs. Patterson was offered a position to teach at Temple University in the Public Health Department. She accepted a position as Fieldwork Coordinator assisting undergraduate and graduate students with identifying internship opportunities as well as monitoring students in their experience. Mrs. Patterson taught the seminar class associated with the internship experience. After two years, Mrs. Patterson was appointed as the Director of MPH Program.

Today Natasha Patterson is pursuing a PhD in Education while teaching public health as an adjunct professor for both Drexel and Arcadia Universities MPH Programs. Mrs. Patterson teaches Introduction to Public Health, Environmental Health, and Social Determinants of Health. She teaches both in person and online courses. Mrs. Patterson also speaks to student groups about careers and academic goals.
