Sean O'Brien

A founding member of Metro Edge, Sean O'Brien was elected chair of the program in 2011 and began serving his one-year term in January 2012. As the chair, he works closely with Sacramento Metro Chamber staff and is an ex-officio member of the Metro Chamber Board of Directors.

Upon the formation of Metro Edge, Sean focused his efforts to create the organization's Philanthropy Committee to foster altruistic activity among members. As the inaugural vice-chair of the Philanthropy Committee, Sean worked diligently to give members an avenue to give back to Sacramento's community.

He is also a founding member of Project Inspire, a philanthropic giving fund that promotes volunteerism and civic minded leadership.

Sean has six years of experience in finance and serves as a Financial Advisor with Merrill Lynch. Beginning at the National Branch Office on the East Coast and later relocating back to Sacramento in 2008. He assists clients with everything from investing for retirement to trading stock options.

Sean has received numerous awards in his short career, including being named as one of Sacramento's Top "40 Under 40" by the Sacramento Business Journal. But he is most proud of his 2011 Volunteer Spirit Award, from Big Brothers, Big Sisters earned for raising over $20,000 for the organization while recruiting over 100 men to be a Big Brother.

Sean graduated from Saint Mary's College with a Bachelor of Science in Business and is an alumnus of Sacramento's Jesuit High School. Sean enjoys living in Midtown Sacramento where he can be found out and about every day of the week with the exception of NASCAR race days.
