Margaret Bryan

Hospital Administrator, CEO

Shriners Hospitals for Children

Margaret Bryan

A native of Northern California, Margaret Bryan’s career as an executive in healthcare is a distinguished one. She joined Shriners Hospitals for Children, following 12 years at the University of California San Francisco Medical Center, where she served in a number of high-level executive positions culminating as the Associate Director of Hospitals and Clinics responsible for the UCSF Children’s Hospital.

She came to Shriners Hospitals for Children Northern California to assume the complex challenge of building a new regional pediatric medical center, mounting entirely new clinical initiatives in the Sacramento area and transitioning all of the clinical operations and patient care services from the now closed San Francisco Shriners Hospital to Sacramento. Since then, the Northern California Shriners Hospital has grown to be the largest, busiest and most complex of the 20 Shriners Hospitals in the United States. Under Ms. Bryan’s leadership, the hospital has treated more than 45,000 children, launched a collaborative research program and established the Institute of Pediatric Regenerative Medicine. Ms. Bryan has worked closely with other healthcare leaders and the community to establish partnerships that allow patients and providers to benefit from the expert specialized care provided by Shriners Hospitals.

Ms. Bryan earned both undergraduate and graduate degrees, including a double-masters in Public Policy and Health Care Administration, at the University of California, Berkeley.
