Senior Vice President
Robert Burris is Senior Vice President of the Sacramento Area Commerce and Trade Organization (SACTO). He is trained as an urban economist and is experienced in applied economics, economic development, and real estate market analysis. As Deputy Director, his responsibilities include external marketing and company recruitment for the six-county Sacramento Region. His duties take him across the U.S. and to Europe in an effort to raise the visibility of the Sacramento Region and to meet with government trade agencies, organizations and companies interested in investing in the Sacramento Region.
Burris's professional experience includes information technology marketing with AT&T/NCR Systemedia Group, real estate, economic and urban land use research with the California State University system, private consulting with a northern California economic consulting firm, as well as senior management positions as research director and client services manager of a major commercial real estate brokerage house where he provided real estate and economic date and analysis to major corporate clients in the region, as well as coordinating major marketing functions. He has also been an expert witness in civil litigation proceedings.
Burris received a B.A. in Business Economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara and an M.B.A. in Business Administration with an emphasis in Market Analysis from the California State University, Sacramento (CSUS). He is also a member of many boards and committees within the region, including the Industrial Advisory Board for the College of Engineering and Computer Science at CSUS. Burris is frequently asked to speak at regional meetings surrounding economic development trends, market conditions and best practices.
